Chiropractic physicians are primary care professionals; you can book a consultation without any recommendation. Their areas of expertise are the nervous, muscular and skeletal systems. They are also granted the authority to prescribe therapeutic exercises, to provide nutritional guidelines, and to suggest lifestyle changes. A chiropractor will elaborate a personalized plan for treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention to maintain an optimal health level.
In the province of Quebec, chiropractors-to-be must complete a five year university training at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and an 18-month university-supervised clinical internship before obtaining the right to sign up for the exam and enter the Ordre des chiropraticiens du Québec. Once the exam is successfully completed, the chiropractic physicians can receive patients autonomously.
With their training, chiropractors hold the necessary expertise to provide a diagnosis which will allow for the creation of a care program in accordance with the patient’s physical condition, age and health goals.
